Families, runners, walkers, aviation enthusiasts and community members are invited to take part in the Empower Her Charity Fun Run on September 24 at the Brakpan Airfield.
The event aims to raise funds to provide menstrual cups to schoolgirls, helping ensure that no girl misses school because of her period.
Organised by La Belle Empower Her, in partnership with Medi-Aktiv, the 5km fun run is designed to bring the community together while making a lasting impact on the lives of young girls.
Every menstrual cup donated has the potential to provide years of safe, reusable menstrual protection, reducing school absenteeism and restoring dignity and confidence to girls who would otherwise struggle to access menstrual products.
“Every kilometre completed represents an opportunity to change a girl’s future,” said event organiser Kerry Matthysen.
“This isn’t about running fast, it’s about running with purpose. Together we can help ensure that periods never become a barrier to education.”
Participants can look forward to:
- A scenic 5km route around the airfield
- A family-friendly atmosphere suitable for all fitness levels
- The opportunity to see planes and helicopters on display
- A fabulous market to enjoy.
Organisers encourage schools, businesses, running clubs, families and individuals to participate or sponsor additional menstrual cups for girls in need.
“By simply entering the fun run, participants become part of a movement that empowers young women through education, confidence and dignity,” added Matthysen.
